Recovering from the Flood

The flood was a huge disaster for us, but things did get better.  Our neighbors Daphne and David let us stay with them while the floors and walls were replaced.  David acted as our general contractor by coordinating painters, tile people, electricians, and plumbers.  With David's help it only took seven weeks to get the house back in shape. We felt very lucky to get back so quickly, with a limited number contractors in Houston, many people only getting started rebuilding after 7 weeks.

We made a few changes to the house when we rebuilt, we replaced our wood floors and linolium with ceramic tile, our brown pile carpet with off white berber carpet.  We also felt fortunate that our Dog and Cat (Resha and Ribs) were at Paws, our favorite kennel during and after the flood.

There was between one and two inches of water through out the house.

This is the view we had when we returned after the flood.  The picture doesn't do it credit.

We were terribly lucky to have our neighbor, David, coordinate contractors.  In a couple weeks we had taken out the bottom two feet of sheet rock, and all the flooring in the house.
