Tropical
storm Allison hit Houston on June 10th. During a few days
Houston received more than 35 inches of rain. The city is
fairly flat so the water had to pool some where, and it chose our
neighborhood. We were in Arizona visiting Alan's family
when heard that our house got an inch of water in it. An inch of
water really doesn't sound like much, but it was enough ruin all the
carpets, wood floors, linoleum, cabinets, as well as the bottom
couple feet of sheet rock.
Things could have been much
worse. Twenty two people died in the flooding and thousands
lost their homes and most of their possessions. Our house was
badly damaged, but with the exceptions of some wonderful old photos
and artwork we didn't lose much else.
